Not very castle-like, but a relaxing place to visit. With no heavy fortifications on the tenshu, it is obvious this castle was built during a period of relative peace. Nijou-Jo is not far from another location, where a different castle stood, for a different lord, but for much the same purpose: as a secondary place of residence.
Still, it's more castle-like than Kawagoe-Jo. I don't have Kawagoe-Jo on these pages. I may feature it someday. I visited Kawagoe-Jo, but lacking foresight, I didn't take any pictures of it. It was closed for a holiday, and I didn't see the inside anyway.
