Only the stone foundations, some of the moat, and the earthen walls remain of this castle. The old castle grounds are being used (not necessarily exclusively) by a school of some kind.

When I visited Koufu-Jo, they were performing major reconstructions of the stone walls. Pictures in books show the foundations crumbling with age, and overrun by grass and shrubs. Today, it has been restored. I don't know if there are any plans to rebuild the castle keep itself.
