- Sunday School:Sunday
School starts again in September 2007 and runs until the end of May
2008.
Children are provided with a story-time from the preacher prior to
going
downstairs for a 40 minute class. They rejoin parents just prior
to Holy Communion. To register, please call the church office at
234-4024.
- Stay-at-home
mom/caregiver drop
in time - Thursday
mornings
from 10:00-11:30am. A great way to meet other
caregivers/stay-at-home
moms and their youngsters.
- Nursery: For
parents of young children, there is a nursery downstairs with toys,
play mat, etc. Please feel
free
to use these facilities if you are visiting us. Additionally, it
has become "traditional" for parents with small children to sit near
the back of the church (not required of course) where there is a "play
mat" with some toys and books. Children can play quietly there,
allowing parents to participate in the service, rather than miss the
service while looking after children in the nursery. (We are
looking into wiring the nursery for sound, but in the meantime...)
- Prayer Chain: For
those of you who have forgotten (or never knew), St. Matthew's Prayer
Chain
would like once again to draw the Parish's attention to its'
ministry.
The Prayer Chain is a group of pray-ers who pray for the concerns of
any
parishioner who puts forth their prayer needs. This can be done
by
filling out a "prayer slip" and placing it into one of the two boxes
kept
at the front and back of the church, or by contacting the
co-ordinator, Mary Glen at <maryglen@magma.ca>.
- Healing:
Prayer for Healing is offered upon request any Sunday. However,
on
the fourth Sunday of each month, prayer for healing is available in the
context of both the 8:00 and 10:00 services. When you come
forward
to receive Communion, remain at the Communion rail and one of the
clergy
will pray with you. (It is best if you come to the rail tewards
the
end of Communion, thereby you are not waiting a long time.) You
may
request a prayer for yourself, a member of your family, or anyone whom
you know to be in particular need.
- Ministry to Shut-Ins: Did
you know that St. Matthew's has a lay ministry in caring for shut-ins,
conducting hospital visits and other support for people with spiritual
needs who can not get to the church? For more information, please
contact the church office at 234-4024.
- Feeding the Hungry:
St. Matthew's supports efforts to feed those in Ottawa who may not have
enough to eat through support of the emergency Food Bank, Centre 507.
For
more information on how you can help, please call the church office at
234-4024.
