MY FAVOURITE IFCIDS
"My Favourite IFCIDs!" is a colourful and practical look into the world of DB2 performance using IFCIDs.
After an introduction to DB2’s Instrumentation Facility (DB2 Traces),
the presentation will focus on some of the more meaningful and interesting DB2 IFCIDs!
Monitor dynamic SQL usage with IFCID 22 and 63… see a practical implementation of IFCID 199
(Buffer Pool Statistics at Data Set level)… AND much more!
Joe is currently a Senior Technical Specialist at the Bank of Montreal (Canada).
Bank of Montreal is one of North America’s top 10 banks and employs over 35,000 employees,
supporting over 2,500 branches worldwide.
Joe has been employed at the Bank of Montreal for the past 20 years and has spent the past 17 years working
with DB2 in various capacities. He is currently the Bank’s DB2 Strategist/Planner.
Most recently, he has architected the Bank’s DB2 Data Sharing processing strategy.
Joe has spoken at various conferences including being on the “DB2 System Performance – Panel” at IDUG 93.
DB2 TRIGGER HINTS AND TIPS
83 triggers, 24 tables…what were we thinking?
Start on OS390, then propagate to AIX and NT platforms…what were we thinking?
Here is a case study emphasizing trigger coding and testing techniques, and cross-platform differences.
Dan has 20 years of software development and management experience.
The past 8 years he has been involved in the development of statistical reports and
monitoring applications for check processing systems.
This work has often involved DB2 database programming.
Current development activities include extensive use of triggers to summarize DB2 information
for downstream monitoring applications.
USING LOBS SUCCESSFULLY
Using LOBs can be very beneficial and with proper use, you can avoid performance issues.
This presentation will discuss the use of LOBs in a DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 environment.
We'll discuss LOB characteristics, Usage, Trends, how they work, Extenders and recovery considerations.
THE DB2 LOG -WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
With the emergence of tools enabling the reading of the DB2 log,
this presentation looks at how the information stored there may be used.
We start by revisiting the DB2 logging mechanism to understand HOW and WHAT DB2 logs,
before looking at the ways in which this valuable resource may be utilised.
Michael Murray is a senior DB2 Consultant with Computer Associates.
