BIOGRAPHY
BRUCE GLAWSON has been an Executive Producer, Programming at Discovery Channel Canada since June 2005. In this role he manages many hours of factual programming simultaneously, guiding the content of commissioned specials and series from development through to broadcast. He works closely with independent producers to deliver high-quality and viewer-friendly television shows. TV Trends and Quality Survey (TVQ) consistently ranks Discovery Channel Canada first among all English-language Canadian specialty networks for overall quality of programming.
Bruce has decades of television experience in such diverse positions as the former co-owner and president of the successful indie company Cambium Productions, the VP of Programming at PrideVision and a Telefilm Canada TV Investment analyst. He has an impressive portfolio of award-winning and highly popular programs with worldwide distribution.
Cambium Film & Video Productions Ltd
Glawson is the former president of Cambium Film & Video Production Ltd. which he co-owned with business partner Arnie Zipursky over a period of 12 and a half years, beginning in 1982. Glawson acted as a creative executive producer managing multiple projects from program evaluation and development, to production, delivery and worldwide exploitation.
Glawson was Co-Creator and Executive Producer of the hit CBC/Nickelodeon series Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show, which has been inducted into the US Gold Parents' Choice Hall Of Fame. He co-created and executive produced 65 episodes of Eric's World, which was honoured with an Award of Excellence from the Children's Broadcast Institute. In the world of music programming, Glawson was Executive Producer of Holly Cole Trio: My Foolish Heart , which premiered on Global Television and garnered two Gemini Awards.
PrideVision TV National Network
Bruce Glawson was appointed as Vice President of Programming at PrideVision, the world’s first gay & lesbian national television network, which launched in September, 2001. He was a key player in the successful start-up, launch and first on-air year of this groundbreaking television network, creating popular new series, strands, and PrideVision personalities.

Telefilm Canada
Glawson’s extensive experience as a director, a producer and commissioning executive was enhanced with the additional creative, financial and marketplace analysis of independent producers and their projects at Telefilm Canada. In addition to his role as TV investment analyst, he was the professional development fund analyst for Ontario and Nunavut (supporting such training initiatives as Women In The Director’s Chair workshops, Reel World Indie Film Lounge at Toronto International Film Festival, WIFT’s Telefilm Media Entrepreneur Incubator, Innoversity, and CFTPA’s Telefilm Producer Trainee Program) and he was the Spark Plug Program Facilitator – a program to advance the careers of visible minority and aboriginal drama producers.
