QUESTION 34:
If there is a God, why doesn't He make Himself known to us?

ANSWER:
God has made Himself known in many and in several ways, yet man in general abides in unbelief. He has made Himself known in three distinct ways:

• In creation, so that man is without excuse. "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are CLEARLY SEEN, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead: so that they are without excuse," Romans 1:20 "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth His handiwork," Psalms 19:1.
  
  
• By the prophets, "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake unto us in time past by the prophets," Hebrews 1:1 These men were inspired of God and spake as the Holy Spirit gave them words, 2 Peter 1:21.
  
  
• By His Son, "Hath in these last days spoken to us by His Son." Hebrews 1:2. The Son of God became man and in doing so He declared the Father. "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father hath declared (told out) Him," John 1:18. When He was on earth He did all sort of miracles, such as healing the sick, cleansing the leper, raising the dead, and many other things, yet they would not believe. They said "away with this man" and they crucified Him. The nature and attitude of man has not changed. They are still full of unbelief.

God's source of revealing Himself is all recorded in His Holy Word. The best thing to do is believe it. It records His mercy and grace to us in the sacrifice of His own Son for our sins. We must believe it and receive Him as our Saviour. Have you?
